Submit your 5-day blood pressure readings to your GP.
You will measure your blood pressure at home twice a day: in the morning and in the evening.
Starting 30 minutes before the measurement, ensure that you:
- Take it easy (no extreme activity such as exercise, heavy work, or cold showers), do not smoke, and do not drink coffee.
- Sit on a high chair, upright, with your legs side by side.
- Remain seated quietly for at least 5 minutes without talking.
- Then measure your blood pressure.
- Record the systolic (upper) and diastolic (lower) pressure.
- Measure your blood pressure again after 2 minutes. Record the systolic and diastolic pressure once more.
- You will do this for 5 days, every morning and every evening.
Always record the date, time, systolic pressure, and diastolic pressure on a list or in a blood pressure diary.
Blood pressure can be higher at some times than others. This is normal.
